How Eternal Pilgrim works
Eternal Pilgrim helps travellers and local people find one another for hospitality, conversation, local advice and shared activities. This guide explains what a connection means and which choices remain yours.
Minimum age
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the Eternal Pilgrim community features.
This is your own declaration, not a documentary verification of your age. Public information pages remain accessible without an account.
Explore before joining
You can read the community and safety guidance without an account. Discovery shows people and projects that meet the search criteria and the visibility rules. A member chooses whether to make a profile or project visible to guests. An empty search can mean that no matching offers are currently visible; it does not give access to private profiles.
Read what a person or project actually offers, where they are and whether their plans fit yours. A profile is an introduction written by its owner. It is not a booking, an identity check or a guarantee of accommodation, work or safety.
Make your own profile
Create an account to take part, describe yourself and choose what you can offer or are looking for. Keep your location approximate and avoid publishing exact home addresses or sensitive personal information. Review guest visibility, journey visibility and external contact sharing separately: choosing one does not grant every other kind of access.
Send a Knock and choose whether to Open
A Knock is an invitation to connect. Read the profile first and send it only when your plans fit. The recipient can choose whether to Open. No reply or a declined invitation must be respected. After an Open, use the shared contacts to explain your dates, activity and expectations.
Open creates a connection through which each participant can see the external contact details the other currently chooses to share. Continue the conversation through those services and agree on practical arrangements directly. Open does not promise a stay, a meeting, transport or participation in a project.
Control your contacts and plans
Your contact-sharing settings apply to earlier Opens too. Before enabling a phone number or another contact, consider who can already access an opened connection. Disabling sharing for a particular contact stops its future retrieval through the app, but cannot recall screenshots or information already copied. A personal profile must keep at least one contact selected for sharing. Pausing hides you from discovery and stops new Knocks while preserving existing Opens. Blocking also restricts the connection while the block applies.
Arrange a considerate encounter
Discuss dates, expectations, accessibility, any proposed costs and how either person can change their mind. For a first meeting, consider a public place, let someone you trust know your plans and keep an independent way to leave. Hospitality is voluntary. No one owes another member accommodation, labour, intimacy or continued contact.
Projects, volunteering and shared travel are arranged by the people involved. Ask who is responsible, what the activity involves and what conditions apply before committing. Membership, references and optional location-based meeting confirmation do not replace your judgment or verify personal safety.
Share feedback and get help
After an Open, participants can write a reference about their experience. Meeting confirmation and references are separate actions. References can be positive or negative; neither a favourable rating nor payment buys a safety endorsement. A recipient can reply, and members can report or dispute a reference or reply for review.
Use the report and block controls for unwanted contact, harassment, scams or privacy concerns. Reports are reviewed by authorised administrators and are not an emergency service. In immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Settings also provides account deletion; the Privacy Policy explains the data removed, records that may remain and the separate authentication step.
Free participation and optional services
Core community participation is free. Payment collection is currently disabled. Any future paid offer must explain its price and conditions before a transaction. You do not need to pay to be treated respectfully or to make your own choices about contact and hospitality.
